His Holiness the Dalai Lama talks about the need for universal responsibility, for the whole of humanity to learn to live happily together.
Universal responsibility is feeling for other people’s suffering just as we feel our own. It is the realisation that even our enemy is entirely motivated by the quest for happiness. Reality now teaches us that everything is interconnected. We should develop a sense of oneness of 7 billion human beings and we have to live together. Since we have to live together, it is much better to do so happily.
